Vocations: all ten classes and how to unlock them

Dragon's Dogma 2 has ten vocations. Four are available from creation, two unlock through Vocation Frustration, and four are Arisen-only classes taught by specific NPCs.

How to change vocation and retain skills

Visit a vocation guild, or an inn that offers vocation services. Spend discipline points to unlock available vocations and skills. Character level and vocation rank are different: ranking a vocation exposes more skills for purchase.

Augments remain unlocked after changing class and can be equipped across vocations. Weapon skills still require a compatible vocation and weapon. Your main pawn has its own progression; hired pawns' vocations and skill sets are controlled by their owners.

The maister rewards above are base-game unlocks and do not require finishing Dark Arisen. Receiving a teaching scroll and using it are separate steps. Most reward delays are a matter of quest progress, affinity or the NPC moving, not an expansion gate.

Which class should you choose?

Choose Fighter for active shield defense, Thief for close-range mobility, Archer for manual ranged aim, or Mage for support. Warrior emphasizes charged physical knockdowns and Sorcerer emphasizes offensive casting.

Mystic Spearhand blends control and melee; Magick Archer supplies homing ranged magick; Trickster relies on pawn damage; Warfarer mixes normal skills at the cost of other classes' maister moves. Match the party to the missing roles instead of chasing a single universal winner.

Capcom expanded assignable weapon skills to six on September 2, 2026, not in August. That free update also added Magick Barrier to Mage and Sorcerer and Buoyant Brume to Trickster. These are not evidence of an eleventh vocation.
