Complete Put a Spring in Thy Step on Agamen Volcanic Island to unlock Magick Archer. Cliodhna teaches this Arisen-only magick-bow vocation and its maister skill, Martyr's Bolt.
Where to find and unlock Magick Archer
- Reach Agamen Volcanic Island; Drabnir's Grotto provides a route from southern Battahl.
- Help Gautstafr on the road by giving him three suitable herbs, then visit Windwalker's Home.
- Offer to escort him to the hot spring at Geyser Hamlet. Keep him alive along the route.
- Speak to Cliodhna when the escort finishes to unlock Magick Archer. Speak again for Spellbow's Paradox, then use it to learn Martyr's Bolt.
- Visit a vocation guild to select the class and equip a magick bow. Pawns cannot use this vocation.

Health cost and build trade-offs
Martyr's Bolt accumulates the loss gauge while charging: the reduced maximum health determines its strength. Ordinary Anodyne healing does not undo that loss. Plan recovery and do not assume every boss dies in one shot. The teaching scroll is not a single-use casting grimoire; learning the skill is permanent.
Use ordinary homing skills for routine combat. Switch between Pinpoint Volley and Rivet Shot according to whether you need broad targeting or a concentrated weak point. Ricochet Hunter is powerful because of walls; an open field removes that advantage.
For an endgame direction, improve your magick bow and choose Sagacity, Exaltation, Endurance and defensive utility augments as available. A frontline pawn creates aiming room and a Mage supplies recovery. These are role-based recommendations, not a claim that one weapon or armor set is universally best.
Capcom adjusted targeting on September 2, 2026 and fixed a lock-on bug on October 16. Update the game before diagnosing persistent targeting problems; the notes do not provide a new damage multiplier.
