How to unlock transmog in Dark Arisen
Complete Reaching the Far Shore, then speak to Hal in Norgandian Settlement and select Tailor Equipment. Game8 documents this as a Dark Arisen feature for appraised relic equipment, not a general restyling service for all base-game armor.
Unlocking and using Tailor Equipment
- Progress the expansion to Soul Searching. Game8 identifies this as the sixth expansion main quest.
- Accept and complete Reaching the Far Shore: Jiera asks for a tome to be retrieved and delivered to Hal.
- Visit Hal at Norgandian Settlement and select Tailor Equipment.
- Choose an eligible piece of appraised relic equipment, then choose the previously obtained equipment appearance to copy.
- Review the gold charge and confirm. A square icon marks tailored equipment in inventory.

Cost, stats, and where the appearance works
Tailoring costs gold and changes appearance without changing the item's stats. Game8 reports a discount if the referenced equipment is currently held in inventory or storage. The charge can vary, so no invented flat price is supplied.
The system covers weapons, shields, head, body, and leg equipment according to the guide. A tailored character can return to the base-game world; the unlock location and eligible base item remain expansion-specific.
If Hal does not open the tailoring screen
First check that the unlock quest is complete and the selected item is appraised relic equipment. Capcom's October 16, 2026 patch also fixes a bug where selecting Tailor Equipment triggered quest conversations and prevented tailoring. Update before assuming the feature is missing from a qualifying save.

Can I transmog the armor I bought in Vernworth?
Not as the item receiving the appearance. Its look can be copied onto eligible appraised Norgan equipment after the unlock.
Does transmog change damage or defense?
No. It changes appearance while retaining the eligible item's properties.
