New skills and vocation changes
DD2's 2026 Dark Arisen expansion adds skills for existing vocations, not an eleventh vocation. Separate its Norgan obelisk unlocks from the free 2 September 2026 update, which raised assigned weapon skills from four to six.
This guide covers the 2026 expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2. Compare it with the 2013 Dark Arisen game.
How the unlocks work
CAPCOM's Q&A explicitly rules out brand-new vocations. Fextralife's Obelisk guide lists nine Norgan obelisks; Warfarer has no dedicated one. Find the altar for the vocation, bring DCP for its boons and use an Offering Flame from Lost Rites to open additional boons.
The same guide places each new Maister skill after the expansion campaign, requiring its Specter Maister encounter. These are expansion unlocks. Magick Barrier for Mage and Sorcerer, Buoyant Brume for Trickster and six assignable weapon skills instead belong to the free 2 September update.
Norgan weapon-skill progression, from Fextralife
| Vocation | Addition | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Fighter / Archer / Mage | Whirlwind Strike to Hurricane Strike / Falcon Arrow to Kite Arrow / Virtuous Bolt to Exalted Bolt | Corresponding Norgan obelisk |
| Thief / Warrior / Sorcerer | Fanged Schism to Fanged Rift / Iron Cleave to Steel Cleave / Brontide to High Brontide | Corresponding Norgan obelisk |
| Mystic Spearhand / Magick Archer | Bataille Twinne to Bataille Idole / Shadebind Bolt to Shadefetter Bolt | Corresponding Norgan obelisk |
| Trickster | Curing Cloud to Vitalizing Vapor; Diverting Fume to Rousing Aroma | Trickster obelisk |
Questions
Does Dark Arisen add a new vocation?
No. CAPCOM's official Q&A says there are no brand-new vocations. The expansion adds skills to the existing vocation system.
How many weapon skills can I assign?
Six after the 2 September 2026 update, up from four. Late August was the earlier planned window, not the date of the released update in the official log.
