Meet Menella in Bakbattahl
Progress Nation of the Lambent Flame, then meet Menella at the entrance to Flamebearer Palace in Bakbattahl. Agree to protect the empress and return in the morning.
Before the ceremony, keep a recent recovery save. The September 2, 2026 update provides three adventure slots, each with Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save; loading the inn save no longer deletes the other two. Check timestamps rather than following launch-era single-save warnings.
Apprehend the assassin
- Speak with Menella at the palace in the morning and read the identifying clues.
- Inspect the men praying on the steps. Herman has tied-back hair, a dark robe, and an injured right arm. Facing up the steps, check the right-hand group.
- Move close and grab Herman. Do not arrest someone solely because their robe is similar, and do not leave the active ceremony.
- The arrest scene takes you to the empress and completes the successful branch. Older guides list 3,500 XP, 18,000 G, and five Jasper, but June 2026 reward changes mean these are historical references, not current guarantees.
Failure and the permit distinction
Grabbing an innocent person or allowing the assassination can leave Nadinia dead. Choose a pre-ceremony save if retrying; the loaded world state returns to that timestamp.
Do not confuse this rescue with the residence-permit step in Nation of the Lambent Flame. Protecting Nadinia is the objective here, not obtaining permission to live in Battahl.
