Dragonsplague: symptoms, cure and rest precautions
Dragonsbaulk Draught is the dedicated Dragonsplague cure added on September 2, 2026. Do not follow old advice claiming that killing a pawn is the only option. Address a suspected carrier before an inn or house rest.
What to do now
| Situation | Response |
|---|---|
| Keep an afflicted pawn | Use Dragonsbaulk Draught on the carrier before resting. |
| Suspicious hired pawn, no cure available | Dismiss the hire and inspect the remaining party. Dismissal removes the carrier from your party; it does not prove the owner's pawn is cured. |
| Main pawn, no cure available | Emergency fallback: allow forfeiture, then resummon at a Riftstone. Being merely downed is not enough. |
| Casual Mode | Capcom states pawns recover without a devastating calamity even at the terminal stage. |
Symptoms worth checking together
- Red glowing eyes that are more pronounced than the pawn's normal appearance; inspect the face closely.
- Uncharacteristic refusal of orders or unusually independent dialogue.
- Headache-like idle behavior, including holding the head.
- Increased combat capability is not proof of safety: the condition can provide benefits before its dangerous stage.
- A blunt remark alone is not a diagnosis. Healthy Straightforward pawns can sound rude.
Current cure versus outdated instructions
Capcom's September 2, 2026 update adds Dragonsbaulk Draught, related pawn dialogue and an item tutorial. Follow the item's in-game tutorial and targeting prompt to treat the affected pawn.
Ordinary health restoration, Anodyne and Halidom are not substitutes for the dedicated cure. If a support pawn is the suspected carrier, dismissing it removes the immediate party risk without sacrificing your main pawn.
The older community fallback is forfeiture: deep water or an expired downed-pawn rescue timer removes the pawn, which can then be summoned again from a Riftstone. Simply knocking the pawn down and reviving it immediately is not the same thing. Prefer the dedicated cure when available.
Transmission, resting and recovery after a calamity
The wiki documents transfer between pawns, including at rests, but exact transmission probabilities and a reliable incubation clock are not established here. Do not rely on a fixed number of safe nights or a promise that a symptom-free pawn cannot carry it.
In modes where the calamity can occur, a terminal-stage carrier can devastate the town during an inn or house rest. Casual Mode is an official exception: its September 17, 2024 notes explicitly prevent this outcome.
If a town has already been hit, inspect the casualties and morgue rather than assuming every important NPC will revive automatically. Wakestones revive individuals and the Eternal Wakestone supports group revival. Keep the recovery decision separate from curing the surviving party.
Why an infected pawn can look stronger
On June 10, 2026, Capcom made afflicted-pawn stat boosts visible numerically. The September 2 update also added combat advantages, including attacks that help stagger large enemies and slower loss-gauge accumulation. Those benefits do not cancel the rest risk.
Cure or replace a suspected carrier rather than deliberately exploiting the buffs. Increased combat capability does not mean the pawn is healthy or that an inn rest is safe.
Questions
How do I heal a pawn with dagon disease?
If you mean Dragonsplague, use Dragonsbaulk Draught. A hired carrier can instead be dismissed; forfeiting and resummoning a main pawn is an older emergency fallback.
Does dismissing an infected hire cure my main pawn?
No. It removes that hire from your party. Inspect and treat any remaining carrier separately.
Can Dragonsplague wipe a town in Casual Mode?
Capcom states that Casual Mode pawns recover without a devastating calamity, even when the condition reaches its terminal stage.
