New Game Plus: what carries over
New Game Plus replays the story after a clear while retaining character progression and possessions. Quests, NPC affinity, hired pawns, and travel access reset, so it is not simply continuing the same world after the credits.
Carryover checklist
| Progress | NG+ result | Before starting |
|---|---|---|
| Arisen level, vocation progress, and learned skills | Retained. | Plan the vocation and skills for the next cycle. |
| Gold, items, weapons, armor, and storage possessions | Retained. | Finish any shopping or upgrades you want in the current world. |
| Main pawn and map progression | Retained. | Expect to rebuild the active hired party. |
| Main and side quests | Reset. | Finish current objectives if you want their present outcomes. |
| NPC affinity | Reset to its starting state. | Do not assume current relationships remain established. |
| Hired pawns and portcrystal access | Reset. | Rehire support and activate destinations in the new cycle. |
Game8 supplies the carryover/reset categories. Its wording about portcrystal access is not a claim that every portable item in storage is deleted.
How to start and prepare
- Complete the main story and choose the post-clear option that begins the story again with retained data.
- Before confirming, finish optional quests, purchases, and Unmoored World objectives you still want in the current cycle.
- Check the selected adventure slot and read the save warning. Do not select a fresh New Game command expecting the same behavior.
- On the next cycle, obtain your main pawn and hire support again, then reactivate travel destinations as they become available.
October 2026 carry-data restart is a separate feature
Capcom's October 9, 2026 log added the ability to carry over current saved data and start the game over from the beginning. That is distinct from the traditional post-clear NG+ unlock. The October 16 note fixes the tutorial for this feature; it is not its introduction date.
Capcom introduced three adventure slots on September 2, 2026. Each has Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save. Those save types are not three successive NG+ cycles, and loading the correct slot still matters before any restart.
Does NG+ automatically make enemies harder?
The official carry-data update note does not specify enemy-stat scaling. No automatic scaling multiplier is asserted here. Hard Mode is a separate, explicitly selected difficulty setting, not another name for New Game Plus.
Questions
What is retained in NG+?
Character progression, possessions and currency, main pawn, and map progression carry over. Quests, affinity, hired pawns, and access to activated portcrystals reset according to the cited guide.
Do I need to finish the story for every kind of retained-data restart?
Traditional NG+ is post-clear. Capcom separately added restarting from current carried-over saved data on October 9, 2026.
