The Arisen's Shadow

Chase the hooded man following you in Vernworth and grab him rather than killing him. Bermudo offers a bribe; refusing it allows Captain Brant to arrest him.

Trigger and cutoff

After Seat of the Sovran, complete an objective for Brant and walk through Vernworth's Merchant Quarter. A pawn may comment on someone watching you, and the quest appears. PowerPyx places its cutoff at Feast of Deception: resolve it before committing to the coronation.

Pursue the hooded man who runs when you approach and use the grab command at close range. Merely talking to random townspeople does not advance the objective.

These are older guide figures, not guaranteed current payouts. Capcom increased some quest rewards on June 10, 2026 without publishing a quest-by-quest replacement table.

Keep the agent alive

Avoid lethal attacks while waiting for Brant. Holding Bermudo is safer than unleashing the party on him. If he dies before the arrest scene, a Wakestone can revive him. The arrested route gives Brant information about Battahl's involvement.

The cited guides differ on additional border-pass consequences, so no particular permit or automatic border unlock is promised here.
