Ferrystones, portcrystals, and fast travel
A Ferrystone is the travel item; a portcrystal is the destination. Since the June 10, 2026 update, the Eternal Ferrystone provides repeat travel without consuming an ordinary Ferrystone each time.
The three items to distinguish

How to obtain the Eternal Ferrystone
- Install the update containing the June 10, 2026 fast-travel changes.
- Progress to Seat of the Sovran and speak with Captain Brant. Capcom says the Eternal Ferrystone is acquired automatically after that conversation.
- If Seat of the Sovran was already completed, Capcom says the item is placed in your inventory after updating.
- Activate a fixed portcrystal by interacting with it, then use the stone from a suitable outdoor location.
Where can you travel?
The normal world has fixed destinations at Vernworth, Harve Village, Bakbattahl, Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp. Capcom added the latter three on June 10, 2026, and Bakbattahl on September 17, 2024. The location guide gives individual landmarks instead of treating all versions as the launch map.
The June 2026 update also added a portable Portcrystal to Monster Culling's rewards; players who had already completed that quest receive it in inventory. Portable stones are useful at places without fixed destinations, such as Sacred Arbor before the Unmoored World and the Sphinx shrines.
Placing a portable stone and fixing failed travel
- Open inventory, select the portable Portcrystal, and use it where there is space outdoors. Interact with it later to retrieve and reposition it.
- Move outside before throwing a Ferrystone. Indoor and restricted locations can prevent use.
- Do not mistake a Riftstone, used for pawns, for a portcrystal travel destination.
- An Eternal Ferrystone removes the consumable cost, not every environmental or story restriction.
Norgan has separate portcrystals
Game8 documents Norgan destinations at Norgandian Settlement, Rivercave Campground, and Shrine of Wisdom. Chilling Tidings awards a portable Norgan Portcrystal. Ordinary portable stones cannot be placed in Norgan; the Norgan item is region-specific.
Unmoored World travel is also story-dependent. Its additional destinations should not be presented as normal early-game options. See the location guide for the separated normal-world, Unmoored, and Norgan lists.
Questions
Is there an infinite Ferrystone in Dragon's Dogma 2?
Yes. The June 10, 2026 update added the Eternal Ferrystone, automatically acquired after talking to Brant during Seat of the Sovran, or placed in inventory if the quest was already complete.
Can I pick up a portable Portcrystal?
Yes. A portable stone can be retrieved and repositioned. Fixed settlement stones cannot be moved.
