Medusa: location, decapitation, and head use
The repeatable Medusa fight is in Caliginous Depths southwest of Bakbattahl. To obtain a preserved head, sever it while her health is still high rather than exhausting her health with unrelated attacks.
Fight and decapitate Medusa
- Travel to Caliginous Depths in southwestern Battahl. The opening Excavation Site encounter is a tutorial, not the repeatable head-farming fight.
- Use a slashing weapon such as Thief daggers. Lightning affinity is a documented aid. Order high-damage pawns to wait if they are depleting her health too quickly.
- Climb her body and position at the head and neck. Use controlled melee attacks there, restoring stamina as needed.
- For a preserved head, complete the decapitation while health remains high. Excessive damage produces a lower-quality head or kills her before the desired result.
- Collect the severed head. Avoid the gaze during the approach and bring petrification and blight curatives.
Equip, brandish, and preserve the head
Transfer the head into your own inventory, select Equip, then select it again and choose Brandish. Aim it toward the target until petrification takes effect; merely carrying it on your belt is not enough.
The head decays while carried. Store it promptly at an inn to preserve it, retrieve it only when ready, and avoid sleeping with it in your inventory. A preserved head can petrify a respawned Medusa for An Eye for an Eye.
Guides differ between seven days and a conservative fourteen-day respawn wait. Store the head first, pass time away from the lair, and revisit; neither figure is presented as a guaranteed current timer. Exact health-bar thresholds also differ, so aim for an early decapitation rather than a measured percentage.
